Police rescues kidnapped boy, arrests suspect in Abuja

Policemen of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command have rescued a 13-year old boy, who was kidnapped by a band of armed bandits and arrested one of the suspected hoodlums.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) FCT Command Wilson Inalegwu said the teenager, Eromosele Johnson was kidnapped at gunpoint by the suspects, on the 9th of May 2015, when his parents house at Crush road in Mpape was commando-style invaded by the armed hoodlums, who initially came to the house to rob, but did not get the money they wanted and decided to kidnap the boy to demand for a ransom.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Anjuguri Manzah in a statement said the Police operatives acted on getting information about the whereabouts of the boy and his abductors in the outskirt of Abuja. The suspected armed robbers turned kidnappers managed to escape but for the one Shuaibu Hamisu, whom the Police arrest on the 14th May, 2016.

Manzah said, “Preliminary Police findings revealed that the robbers who had invaded the house for a robbery operation later settled for the victim’s abduction when their monetary demands were not met by his parents.
Following a relentless manhunt launched by the strike team deployed by the FCT CP Wilson Inalegwu, the victim was rescued on Friday from his abductors at (Lower)Usman Dam (near Bwari). One of the suspects responsible for the abduction by name Shuaibu Hamisu was also arrested in the process”.

The Commissioner while handing over the 13 years old victim to his parents, Inalegwu urged his men in the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) to intensify efforts to arrest other members of the gang as proactive operations are deepened by the Command to ensure the arrest of criminal elements in the FCT.
